We are seeking a Trainee Named Veterinary Surgeon to join our team at the Royal Veterinary College, supporting the provision of excellent care and welfare to our animals used in research projects through our Biological Services Units (BSU).
The BSU provides high quality multi-species research support with animal welfare, scientific excellence and a prime culture of care for our excellent staff and researchers at our core. You will play an important role supporting Named Veterinary Surgeon (NVS) responsibilities through membership of our ethical committees and collaboration with our staff and researchers, you will assist in helping to provide veterinary clinical care for research animals and advise on their health, welfare, anaesthesia, analgesia and good surgical practice under A(SP)A legislation. You will be working with a number of different species including farm animals, horses, birds, amphibians, fish and small animals, including rodents.
We are looking for candidates with a genuine commitment and enthusiasm to animal welfare and a desire to learn and develop their skills by becoming a Named Veterinary Surgeon under A(SP)A through a comprehensive training package and introduction into the pioneering world of research. You will have the opportunity to be trained full time by specialist diplomate boarded veterinarians in multiple disciplines, including experienced NVSs.
