Who are we ?
The Charles River site near Lyon, France, is a unique 14-hectare site located in the Azergues

drug therapies, while respecting animal welfare
The position
We are looking for a Clinical Veterinarian (F/H) to join our team of 4 veterinarians on a permanent
basis.
Under the responsibility of our veterinary manager and within a strict regulatory framework (GLP),
you will be responsible for the medical and sanitary follow-up of site animals (minipigs, dogs, NHPs,
rabbits and non-rodents) used in safety assessment studies.
You will provide technical and scientific advisory to the animal facility team and overview the
humane care of animals.
You will receive a complete onboarding and training program, provided by technical and scientific
experts.
Tasks and responsibilities
Carrying out veterinary examinations of animals and provide care and treatment, including
standard surgeries
Providing technical and scientific expertise to animals care takers staff and to scientific
team
Applying the health monitoring program and review food, bedding and water analysis
results.
Ensure the global animal welfare policy of Charles River is applied
Participating in educating and training staff on animal welfare and humane care of animals
Actively participating in the development and fine-tuning of new methods (surgical
interventions, sampling, new dosing techniques, etc.)
Involvement in specific experimental phases of safety assessment studies (neurological
examinations.).
Actively participating in the Ethic Committee and Animal Welfare Body
Ensuring the back-up management of the veterinary pharmacy in accordance with
regulatory requirements
Monitoring regulatory files and ensure AAALAC accreditation is maintained.
Participating in customer Animal Welfare audits and regulatory inspections (DDPP)
Specific conditions
On-call duty is required for some evenings and weekends (approximately 1 every 5 weeks).
Expected qualifications
You have a veterinary degree recognized in France and you are registered at “Ordre des
vétérinaires”.
Ideally, you have expertise/specialisation in ophthalmology (CES).
You have a good command of French and English, both spoken and written.
You have excellent interpersonal skills and good teamwork abilities.
Contractual terms
French contract under collective agreement for the pharmaceutical industry
Salary: From €40,000 gross / year over 13 months
60% of the cost of health insurance, company restaurant, work council
Transport bonus, profit-sharing, seniority agreement, remote agreement, etc.
Work site is not accessible by public transport : personal mean of transport essential
